Nutrition Overview

Proper nutrition is one of the cornerstones good health and healthy living. Making better food choices is fundamental in keeping a healthy weight. Healthy Gears promotes healthy food choices and making subtle gradual changes that can make a big difference over time. We are all only human and have our favorite foods and comfort foods that we love. There is no reason to give up eating the foods we love. This is where many fad diets fall short. We promote a gradual lifestyle change that includes a balanced diet.

Healthy Gears provides helpful meaningful information to help you make better decisions in making food choices. We find the 80 / 20 rule is a good balance. This is where 80% of the time good food choices take precedent over bad food choices. The other 20% of the time select a comfort food that satisfies the cravings. If you select a double cheese pizza and a dish of gourmet ice cream one day, maybe the next day has a few extra fruits and vegetables.

Information Overload

Its no wonder making healthy food choices is very complicated. Some of the fad diets promote low carbohydrates others say eat all the carbohydrates you want. Some fad diets say eat all the protein and fats you want but don't eat carbohydrates. Every time we visit the supermarket we are barraged with the "low fat" and "low carbohydrate" labels. New product labeling requires "trans fats" to be included in nutrition labels. This certainly adds to the complexity of trying to understand what is a good food choice.
